Sophora Japonica Extract – Premium Rutin & Quercetin Source for Pharmaceutical & Nutraceutical Applications

Sophora Japonica Extract is a natural substance with a high level of flavonoids obtained from dried, unopened flower buds of Sophora japonica L. (Japanese Pagoda Tree). This botanical extract is mostly extracted from the Chinese provinces of Hebei, Shandong, Henan, and Shaanxi and delivers pharmaceutical-grade formulations containing standardized quercetin and rutin. The product is then sent to many steps of purification to obtain purities from 20% to 98%. It is obtained in summer flowering season when concentration of rutin is optimal. It works effectively in functional meals, antioxidant skin care and vascular health supplements. Manufacturers throughout the world utilize it and it has been shown to strengthen capillaries and provide powerful antioxidant protection.

Core Advantages:

· Standardized content of rutin by HPLC (20%/30%/50%/95%/98%)

·  From verified GAP-compliant cultivation bases

· Available in several grades: medicinal, culinary and organic

· Full traceability from harvest to end product

· Third party tested for purity, potency and safety by SGS and BV.

Why Choose Us

Raw Material Source & Traceability

Our Sophora Japonica Extract starts with the meticulous grading of raw materials:

These dried flower buds (Sophora japonica buds) originate from Hebei, Shandong, Henan and Shaanxi and are well-known for their high rutin content. They were collected throughout the summer.

Raw Material Grading:

1. Pharmaceutical/Food Grade: Freshly selected flower buds without mold and leaf contaminants. Strict testing for pesticides and heavy metals. By this procedure rutin of 95 or 98 per cent purity was obtained.

2. Raw Material: Buds and little fragments of leaf. affordable solution for 20%, 30% and 50% needs.

3. Organic Grade: Sourced from organic farms verified by ECOCERT and the USDA. Nothing is man made like pesticides and fertilizers. Contamination is avoided by using specialized processing lines.

Buds are picked and air-dried, cleansed of branches, leaves, mold and sand, and kept under regulated circumstances.

Specification Differentiation:

· Rutin is a cheap material for the production of herbal supplements and animal feed, since it contains 20% of water and 30% of alkaline.

· 50% Rutin: Standard protocol for purification of export dietary components by single-stage macroporous resin process

· Rutin with a purity level of 95% or 98% obtained by recrystallization and multiple steps of resin refining; appropriate for use in medicines, high-end supplements and anti-aging skin care products.

Raw Material Source

Solubility & Stability Characteristics

Solubility:

· It will be easily soluble in heat, ethanol and propylene glycol, all solvents.

· It is sparingly soluble in cold water.

· The polyols and emulsifiers needed for ointments are insoluble in oils.

Stability:

· Stable at 80; degrades over 90on prolonged heating

· pH: Best between 4.0 and 7.2: hydrolysis is rapid in highly alkaline circumstances.

· Dry powder is stable when protected from direct sunshine, but water-based solutions oxidize and yellow under UV radiation.

· Humidity: The greater purity is related to the lesser hygroscopicity. 95%/98% grades absorb relatively little water. Shelf life 24 months. Store in a cool, dark area, maintain sealed.

Solubility & Stability Characteristics

Production Process

I. Raw Material Pretreatment

Acceptance and sorting of dried buds → Low-temperature drying (45–55℃) → Crushing to 20–30 mesh

II. Extraction

20%/30%: Alkaline hot water (90–95℃, pH 8.0–9.0) 50%/95%/98%: Dilute ethanol + alkaline water (75–80℃, 0.5% Na₂CO₃)

III. Filtration & Acid Precipitation

Coarse + plate filtration → pH adjustment to 3.0–4.0 → Rutin precipitates → Centrifuge and wash

IV. Purification

20%/30%: Direct concentration 50%: D101 resin + 45% ethanol elution 95%/98%: Resin + multi-stage hot water recrystallization

V. Drying

Low purity: Spray drying (155℃ inlet) High purity: Vacuum drying (45–50℃)

VI. Finishing

Sieving (60–200 mesh) → Blending → Vacuum-sealed light-proof packaging (25 kg drums)

VII. Testing

HPLC (rutin %), ICP-MS (heavy metals), GC-MS (pesticides, solvents), microbiology → COA/MSDS issued

Key Control Points: Raw material baseline testing, pH adjustment during precipitation, recrystallization cycles, drying temperature, and final particle size classification.

Production Process

Quality Assurance

We maintain end-to-end quality control:

· Compliance with HACCP, ISO9001 and FSSC22000 certification systems

FAQ

Q: How soluble is rutin in cold water for oral liquids?

A: It is slightly soluble in cold water. For liquid formulations, use 200 mesh ultrafine powder with Propylene glycol or warm gently to avoid precipitation.

Q: Will rutin degrade in high-temperature processing?

A: Work below 80. Hydrolysis occurs after extensive exposure (>90 °C). Keep pH 4.0 - 7.2 Avoid extremely alkaline systems.

Q: How hygroscopic is the product during shipping?

A: Higher purity (95%/98%) is less hydroscopic. Our double-layer, light-proof and moisture-proof packaging prevents clumping during ocean transport.

Q: Can you customize mesh size, content, and packaging?

A: Yeah.  We may customize the quantity of Rutin, particle size (60-300 mesh) and neutral Export Packaging. Our own factory will take care of huge volume requirements reliably.

Q: Do you provide third-party testing and stability data?

A: Definitely. Re-inspection by SGS/BV is supported. we offer COA, MSDS and stability studies for regulatory submission
