Butcher's Broom Extract – Premium Ruscogenin-Standardized Botanical Powder
Sourced from the dried underground rhizomes of Ruscus aculeatus, butcher's broom extract is a potent natural ingredient widely recognized for its vasoprotective and anti-inflammatory properties. This fine, dark brown powder provides bioactive steroidal saponins, notably ruscogenin, to help circulation, ease leg soreness and improve skin resilience. Our extract comes from ripe, multi-year-old roots that are carefully sorted to eliminate rotting, mouldy and hollow rhizomes. Whether you're manufacturing nutritional supplements, eye serums or leg care lotions. Air dried at low temperatures, raw material allows the integrity of the saponin to be preserved from harvest to extraction, promising consistent potency and purity from batch to batch.

Why Choose Us
Shaanxi Rebecca Bio-Tech has three specialised manufacturing lines with an annual capacity of over 2,000 tonnes. Our research and development team focuses on extracting and creating formulas from plant-based ingredients using advanced testing equipment like HPLC, UPLC, GC-MS, and ICP-MS.We hold certifications such as ISO9001, HACCP, KOSHER, HALAL, and cGMP.Each batch is tested by an independent lab for heavy metals, pesticides, and bacteria to ensure it meets global quality standards. We ensure complete tracking of every product from the time it's planted to when it's packed, giving you confidence in the quality and consistency of our supplies.

Source & Traceability
Our industrial-grade raw material comes from dried Ruscus aculeatus rhizomes harvested from mature, multi-year-old roots. Rotten, insect-infested, hollow, and moldy parts are manually removed along with soil and weeds. After low-temperature air drying to prevent saponin loss, we classify materials into three grades:
· Conventional Extraction Grade: Routine pesticide control; used for 5% and 10% extracts.
· High-Purity Refined Grade: Pre-screened for heavy metals and pesticide residues; exclusively for 20% high-content products.
· Export Traceability Grade: Full process traceability with dedicated production lines to avoid cross-contamination.

Solubility & Stability
Solubility:
Standard butcher's broom extract dissolves easily in hot water, ethanol, and methanol. It is slightly soluble in cold water and nearly insoluble in oils. For cold-water applications, our cyclodextrin-modified version offers rapid dissolution with no precipitation.
Stability:
· Temperature: Stable ≤65℃; avoid prolonged exposure >80℃.
· pH: Optimal range 4.0–7.2; avoid strong acids/alkalis.
· Light: Store sealed and light-protected; aqueous solutions are light-sensitive.
· Moisture: High ruscogenin content increases hygroscopicity; vacuum-sealed foil bags ensure 24-month shelf life.

Production Process
Step 1: Raw Material Pretreatment
Rhizomes are manually sorted, washed, sliced, and dried at 40–45℃. Materials are pulverized to 20–30 mesh to maximize saponin extraction.
Step 2: Ethanol Reflux Extraction
Ethanol in food grade quality removes saponins by means of segmented reflux. Plate and frame filtration separates particles from liquid.
Step 3: Concentration and Dealcoholization
Filtrate is concentrated under low temperature vacuum (65°C); ethanol is recovered and regenerated.
Step 4: Purification of the resin (Core specification step)
Macroporous resin can remove polysaccharides, salts, proteins and colours. Gradient ethanol elution enhances ruscogenin:
· 5%: Single-step purification
· 10%: Refined single-stage purification
· 20%: Multi-stage series purification
Step 5: Decolorization
Reflux with activated charcoal to remove dark impurities. Filter to get pure solution.
Step 6: Spray dryer
Fine powder via high pressure atomisation in a spray tower with regulated entrance/exit temperatures.
Step 7: Modification of Cyclodextrin (Optional)
Soluble powder in cold water for liquid formulae. β-cyclodextrin inclusion.
Step 8: Grind and Blend
The dried product is screened to 80–200 mesh and 3D blended for batch homogeneity.
Step 9: Testing & Packaging
Vacuum sealed aluminium foil bags protect against air, moisture and light. A complete test for potency, heavy metals and micro-organisms is done before it is stored in the warehouse.

FAQ
Q: What is the difference between 5%, 10% and 20% ruscogenin specs?
A: 5% is a cost-effective level for basic topical use; 10% provides a balanced purity level for mainstream supplements and cosmetics; 20% gives a high saponin concentration for premium oral capsules and professional treatments.
Q. Is your extract water soluble?
A. Ordinary powder is somewhat soluble in cold water. Our modified cyclodextrin is readily soluble in cold and hot water and forms no precipitate.
Q: What do you do to assure raw material purity?
A: We have separate extraction lines and we do not accept adulterated or rotting material. Authenticity is confirmed by HPLC fingerprint and batch traceability documentation.
Q. Can it be used in oil-based formulations?
A: The passage is water loving. For oil systems, dissolve in ethanol or propylene glycol first and add emulsifiers.
